A girl was carrying a pot of curd on her head.
“I shall sell this curd and get a tot of money”
She said to herself.
“Then I will buy a new frock”
“I will buy a nice new frock”
“I will wear that frock and go to the carnival”
“All the boys will look at me”
“I won’t look at them”
“I will raise my head like this and pretent to be proud”
So saying the girl nodded her head. The pot of curd
fell down and broke in to pieces. It was the end of all her dreams.

.
A tortoise, discontented with his lovely life
,and envious (feel jelous) of the birds he saw
disporting (amuse) themselves in the air, begged
an eagle to tache him to fiy.
The eagle protested that it was idle for him to try,
as nature had not provided with him wings, but the
tortoise pressed him with entreaties (earnest request)
and promises of treasure, insisting that it could only be a
question of learning the craft of the air.
So at length the eagle consented (agreed to) to do the
best he could for him, and picked him up in his talons. (claws).
Soaring (fly high) with him to great height in the sky he thenlet
him go, and the wretched tortoise fell headlong and was dashed
to pieces on a rock.

The lion and the boar.

One hot and thirsty day, in the heat of summer,
a lion and a boar cam down to a little spring at
the same moment to drink.
In a trice (in an instant) they were quarrelling
as to who should drink first. The quarrel soon
became a fight and they attacked one another with fury.
Presently, stopping for a moment, to take breath,
they saw some vultures seated on a rock above
evidently waiting for one of them to be killed.
They thought that they would fly down and feed
upon the carcass of the fight. The sight sobered them
at once, and they made up their quarrel, saying:
‘We had much better be friends than fight and be eaten by vultures’

There are number of enchanting places have been enlisted in the page of Sri Lankan history. Of those sigiriya rock fortress is the most fascinating and marvelous. Being a natural rock created by great ruler Kashyapa, it has been attracted both local and foreign tourists for its amazing feat of engineering, which stands around forty miles to the North East of Matale city.
It was said that fear of his younger brother Moggallana that made king Kashyapa to
find security on this huge rock which he trans formed into a for tress.
Though the king meant in to be a fortress, it was really a work of art too.
In sigiriya there are so many places to be attracted.
Frescoes mirror wall and the reffities are some of them.
The name sigiriya implies its gateway as the throat of a huge lion being one of our great
national heritage, this natural rock fortress is evident for the grandour of our ancient
Sri Lanka as well as the aesthetic skills of our primitive kings.
